Battlefront II

Post by DblDwn » November 16th, 2017, 3:55 pm

Thoughts?

Great multiplayer, the maps are amazing. The campaign was awesome, with a few playables I didn't expect. And did the Discoveries level hint at a big spoiler regarding the Sequel trilogy?

What's funny is I mentioned this to my daughter about halfway through the campaign, more as a what if in passing, and then Discoveries just so happened to play into it a bit more than I expected.

Since the game doesn't officially release until tomorrow I will leave it at that, for now.

I'm on the last mission for the single player. It's been very short and very rushed, but I appreciate what it's done as far as storytelling is concerned.

Spaceship flight is SO MUCH BETTER this time around. It's insane how much better it feels.

I'll get more into multiplayer once I finish the campaign.

I finished the campaign yesterday, MM.

Kapit, I'm interested to hear your thoughts, story wise, once you have finished the campaign.

Finally wrapped up the campaign last night.

Overall I enjoyed it. The story is pretty cliche as far as Star Wars stories are concerned. It would've worked a lot better if they weren't rushing through everything. Trying to avoid spoilers, but if first "chapter" of the story had been given another mission or two to flourish I think it would've been a lot smoother of a transition. As it was things just sorta happened out of nowhere and then suddenly you're in a different situation. Also, having to shoehorn the multiplayer maps into the campaign really didn't work for me. It made those levels feel like padding more than helping the story.

Actually getting to participate in the Battle of Jakku was awesome. Starfighter flight has been wildly improved over the original version and feels more like a successor to the old Rogue Squadron games. I cannot stress how much fun it is to fly those ships now. Last night I played a match where I was in an ARC-170 and the things I was able to do with that ship were sublime. Twisting and weaving and flying around like a madman in ways that have only been described in books and never experienced in a game before. It is seriously amazing.
