"Cold War," Doctor Who Episode 7.8. Last night I watched the midseason premiere of Fear the Walking Dead, which was more meandering dud than Walking Dead.

Watched the first episode of Star Trek Discovery last night. Quite lackluster. I'll check out the second episode tonight, but unless its significantly better, I'm not gonna feel too bad about not continuing with CBS All Access.

It's on Netflix here which I'm paying for anyway. I'm not holding out hope for this show...

A few episodes of the second season of Space: 1999 on Blu-Ray. The second season never aired here in Sweden (at least not on a widely distributed channel) and I was a bit curious as I liked it as a child.

Binged Stranger Things season 2 over the weekend.

Despite slowing down in the middle and having one episode that just didn't fit, this series continues to be a ton of fun.

I also binged the second season this weekend, from Friday to Saturday. :) Yes, I guess which episode you're referring to, but it was a bit of character building though it did feel out of place. It seems almost everyone is talking about Stranger Things here in Sweden... Looking forward to the third season! :)

I've been watching Vikings on HBO. I was surprised that Ragnar Lodbrok is the main character, although much liberty has been taken with the old stories. In the stories, Ragnar was the son of a Swedish king, Sigurd Ring, and not a peasant. The stories were also set many decades earlier than the show.
In one episode, the temple at Uppsala (today old Uppsala in Sweden) which according to a sketchy source was the most important religious center at the time (though it was an important political center), was shown to be located on top of a hill though Uppsala is situated on a plain (and the use of human sacrifice is doubtful and there's no evidence to support it). There are many other more or less annoying errors as well such as the use of "Sweden" when it was called "Svitjod" or "Svealand"(="Land of the Swedes", which is still a region) but...

A pretty entertaining show thus far.

I started this and for some reason didn't continue. I need to get back to that.

Also, I signed up for 3 months of CBS access at 20% mostly to get the AFC championship game, but figured I could get caught up on Discovery, too.

Though, I'm also planning on starting TNT's The Alienist, so maybe those other two will wait a bit longer.

The Last (recent) program I watched was last Friday's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which has surprised me this season by not stinking--in contradistinction to "Season 11" of The X-Files, which has been little more than the tedium of raspy-voiced Gillian Anderson and stubbly Duchovny going through the motions, culminating in Wednesday's low-rent, sledgehammer-subtle slam of the 45th President of the United States.

In happier viewing, I've been watching Doctor Who Series 9--most recently, "Face the Raven."

I caught the premiere of that. Must say I was unimpressed. Too dark--I mean, literally, the thing was lit like the inside of a refrigerator six feet under ground--too gruesome, and utterly lacking in sympathetic characters. I'll tune in this evening for Episode 2, but a second chance is all it gets, and if it doesn't show me something it didn't last week, I'll go back to Doctor Who or something else on disc for Monday nights.

Agreed. Didn't find episode 1 interesting or good. I sort of gave episode 2 a chance...meaning I was doing other things while it was on and turned it off about half way through. I might give it a more real shot sometime this week, but my heart's not in it.

I'm also distracted by KOTOR 2, which I started playing last Friday with the restored content mod. That's definitely eating up a lot of my time, probably more than it should.

The X-Files, 7.12 (I think), "X-Cops." These programs are not ageing well. I remembered this one as amusing when it first aired. Last night, it just put me to sleep about 20 minutes in.

I've been watching some of Star Trek: Voyager on Netflix. I really didn't like the show when it was aired on Swedish public service, but I liked some of the characters and I stuck to it. One of the best things with streaming is that you can skip episodes you don't like (and with Voyager there are quite many of them). Voyager was uneven, but the episodes that were good were really good (on the other hand, the bad ones really sucked).

The X-Crement Files, "Event Series" 11.10: "My Struggle IV"

Well, what can you expect from a series that's ripped of a title from der Führer four freakin' times?

Adios, Mulder and Scully. Don't let senescence hit you in the ass on the way out.

Yeah, I was really underwhelmed.

After the first, 6-episode event series, I felt done. Sounds like there's no reason for me to jump back in.

Not unless you enjoy being bored and wasting your time. After the big build-up to last season's finale, they pulled back, way back this season, and it was mostly sub-standard monster-of-the-week episodes, at least a couple of which had ideological axes to grind.

I know I've commented on The X-Files before, but it really bums me out how the show lost its way. In the middle of its original run, it was as good as anything else I was watching. If I had any hopes for its conclusion, it was just that we got a good, solid conclusion. Endings are tough and plenty of shows have dropped the ball at the end, so I wasn't looking for brilliance. But, man, after staying on the air a couple years too long, Carter didn't even make an attempt at an ending. I considered myself done with X-Files at that point, but when it made its 6-episode return, enough time had passed that I was ready to jump back in. Felt good to have the show back, but that excitement faded fast. Wasn't that impressed.

So now...well, its that saying Dubya stumbled with once upon a time..."Fool me once..."

It'll definitely be shame on me at this point if returned, so I'm done with it.

Fear the Walking Dead, Season 4.1, the much-hyped Morgan Jones crossover from The Walking Dead. Okay, actually, the last show I watched was Talking Dead after this one, but this was the last fiction I watched.

Underwhelmed, I was. That's still an improvement over my (dis)satisfaction with the three preceding seasons. A Considerable one. There may be hope for them yet.

I'm not sure about The Walking Dead. I think they're trying to morph into a program about a kinder, gentler post-apocalypse, and I don't see that being very entertaining. Weeding the fields and cooperating on irrigation ditches is not going to keep zombie apocalypse fans in the seats, I imagine.
