Re: Rank the Star Wars Movies
Rank the Star Wars movies? Why not? 1. The Empire Strikes Back. 2. A New Hope (A.K.A. Star Wars to those of us who were around prior to the name-change). 3. Revenge of the Sith. 4. The Phantom Menace - Return of the Jedi (Tie). 5. Attack of the Clones. 6. The Force Awakens (A.K.A. The Farce Awakens)...

What the heck are we supposed to make of that?

Re: Star Wars Episode IX (SPOILERS ALLOWED)
Saw the D23 teaser-thing. I was... Unimpressed. The snips from earlier episodes only served to remind me that those films were much, much better. (I was also struck by the fact that they were out of order internally and externally.) Luke's voice-over was like a cold shower for whatever anticipation ...

Re: Profound Media Questions by Lord Tesla
Question Two: Why would a civilization a million or two million years older (and presumably more advanced) than our own be the least bit interested in us monkeys barely out of the trees on the Third Planet? I was tooling around the tube this afternoon and caught a couple of minutes of Alien Highway ...

I think the subject gives you the general idea. Feel free to post your own questions, answers, profound or frivolous, as well. To begin: Why is it called "The Travel Channel"? Spooks, Spaceships, and Specious Hypotheses seems more like it: That's all that's on the channel--Or, Phantoms, Fl...

Re: Last Television Show Watched
Yeah, well, it was Project Blue Book again. I finally rewatched "The Scoutmaster," and got the last ten minutes. Zowie, so it wasn't really an alien skull, after all! Duh. But this, no matter that it's "suggested by" actual cases and "based on" J. Allen Hynek's work wit...

Re: What's the last book you read?
The History in English Words by Owen Barfield. I've heard about that one! Would you recommend it? Yes, I think I would. It was not an enjoyable read. The style is a tad archaic, if I may engage in a little hyperbole. For instance, the paragraphs that span pages strike one as just a little too long....

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die. " Rutger Hauer as Roy Batty, Blade Runner , 1982. Rutger H...

Re: Last Television Show Watched
Let's see... Last night I watched episode 7 (I think), of Project Blue Book , "The Scoutmaster." (Just double-checked: It was #7.) Via the old DVR. Meh. Kinda weird, and I nodded off during the final ten minutes. So far, it hasn't been that impressive. But, compared to a lot of other thing...

Re: Star Wars Episode IX (SPOILERS ALLOWED)
So, the teaser: YouTube * Billy Dee Williams! :w00t: Never was a big Lando fan, but, with so little of the OT remaining in these nightmare films, I must admit, I was pleased to see him. * Ian McDiarmid! :w00t: I concur, but--you knew it was coming, didn't you?--two things: 1) they're resuscitating ...

Original airing/new was The Walking Dead 9.18, "The Storm." Two-Word Review: Bore. Ring. One-Word Summary: Snow. Non spoiler critique: Watching a station with no programming, no signal, just static, i.e., "snow," would have been only slightly less entertaining. Everything the epi...

Re: Star Trek - From TOS to Discovery and Beyond
But, then, they never were too worried about that sort of thing in Trek. During the original run there were a great many inconsistencies, and they only had one program to keep track of, which they were making up as they went along. True. And I'll admit, its not a huge issue for me. I have nitpicker...

Re: What SW are you looking forward the most 2019?
So, I have my playset with my dark siders on it in my cramped room too close to my bed, and I keep bumping it and knocking figures over. Same thing happens to me at my desk. Sometimes someone takes a header over the front--usually Luke--or Vader, Luke, the Tusken Raider and Slave Leia take turns kn...

Re: Star Trek - From TOS to Discovery and Beyond
Though I'm not sure to what degree we can see "period authentic" is really the goal, given the uniforms, technology, Spock stuff (at least through first 4-5 episodes of season 2, haven't seen any since). I think its more do-whatever-we-want. I think you're right. The bridge set in action ...

Heredity: A Very Short Introduction.
What a useless, steaming pile of ideological nitwittery.
What I was after was a refresher on the mechanics of hereditary in organisms; what I got was a lot of bilge about race, class and gender.
Ugh.

Well, I watched it from a disc, but an episode of Firefly last night. "Our Mrs. Reynolds," if memory serves, episode 1.7.
Since, well, I have watched a little news.
