Re: Last Movie Watched
Justice League. I knew I wanted to see this even despite the complaints and bad reviews so I went in expecting it to be a mess. Well, it had its faults and slow points and a few scenes I didn't care for, but nevertheless I enjoyed it a lot. That's right, I had a good time. I enjoyed all of the JL pl...

Re: Last Movie Watched
Thor: Ragnork or however you spell it. Meh. I was very disappointed. Thor was pretty much my favorite Avenger and I enjoyed the first 2 Thor films, but this one felt very different. First I'll say that the first 5 minutes were downright fantastic. But then it dragged on and got too goofy for me. I d...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS ALLOWED)
Has anybody noticed this yet? Those ships flying over the surface of that redplanet are just B-Wing remakes. Still nothing new as far as ship and fighter designs from the sequels, I'm afraid. Oh, I'll still be there on opening day expecting to love the movie, but this was why TFA underwhelmed me wit...

Didn't we use to have a photo thread lying around here somewhere? Let's flash our mugs and show off a bit like the bunch of photo hams that we are. Savvy?

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (NO SPOILERS)
Back in 1998 we got our first full--and mind blowing--trailer for TPM about 6 months before the premier. We're about 2.5 months away this time. What's Lucasfilm waiting for? We don't have to wait many more days, ol'Tov. It's most probably going to be released during Monday Night Football on Columbu...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (NO SPOILERS)
So here is what's on my mind lately as I think about Star Wars... Regardless of your thoughts on the prequels, the trailers for each of those three movies were fantastic, visually stunning and emotionally exciting. So why is that I have been entirely unimpressed with a solid "meh" feeling ...

Re: THE REPUBLIC vs. THE SEPARATISTS...a "what-if" question
Keep in mind folks, despite the use of the Force, the Jedi in the Geonosis arena were outnumbered and ended up surrounded in a losing fight before Yoda showed up with reinforcements.

Wonder Woman. Pretty good, but it didn't blow me away like I'd been hearing people raving about. But still, it was pretty good. Collateral Beauty. Holy box of Kleenex, Batman. This one was fantastic. And what a tear-jerker. Whoa. If this one doesn't yank on the old heart strings, you don't have a he...

THE REPUBLIC vs. THE SEPARATISTS...a "what-if" question
Hypothetically, if the war had not been completely orchestrated by Darth Sidious, but if in fact the 2 sides had truly been commanded by seperate masterminds... If neither side was led by a Sith lord... Or one side was and the other side wasn't... Or if both sides were led by Sith not in league with...

"EVERYTHING THAT HAS TRANSPIRED HAS DONE SO ACCORDING TO MY DESIGN" ...even the Rebel Alliance?
We know that Palpatine created the Seperatist threat in order to gain his power; the chancellorship, war powers, clone army at his disposal, stripping of constitutional rights for the sake of securing the Republic, etc. The threat to the Republic from the Seperatist, and later supposedly by the Jedi...

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

In consideration of both Rogue One and A New Hope chronologically, regardless of the 40 years between films and any differences between the writers and directors of the two: In ANH Tarkin was convinced that the rebels could not have gotten a hold ...

Top Three Favorite Star Wars films on my list: Empire Revenge Rogue Interesting. Might be my top 3 also, though I'd have Revenge at the top. Revenge sure had a lot more action, fight scenes, and intensity, but Empire will probably always come first to me due to the nostalgia and the lifelong love e...

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
I like the score though it was lacking in some areas. Especially the title scene. When "Rogue One" appeared on the screen the music was too similar IMO to some of the music in cheesy low budget 80's sci-fi like Adventures in the Forbidden Zone. However, the rest of the music was quite good...

Very interesting observation Borg. I must see if I have a copy of that thread somewhere, from when I posted all those quotes together that time to start the new thread. I don't recall you mentioning that there, and while it was a long thread that's probably the first time I've read that from you, to...

Did somebody mention Rogue One? Sorry Tesla that you didn't enjoy it. I loved it. Absolutely loved it. I've seen it a few more times since buying the DVD about two weeks ago. When you don't have cable or any TV service for that matter, and only a few movies owned to choose from, you wind up watching...

Re: Symbolism and Comparisons in Films
What's funny about that, Borg, is that in the old Godfather thread we both expressed disbelief that anybody would not have seen GF by that point. This was exactly the way I started this same topoc on the old forum. It's actually one of the only few topics I'd had saved in my memory card. I wish I'd ...

Amadeus. Very, very good. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. Raging Bull. Very good, but as with my viewing of Southpaw, I did not care for the main character so it was hard to root for him. Star Wars: Rogue One. Wow, just fucking wow. Saw it 4 times in the theater, and 3 times in the ...

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
I bought the DVD last night, the cheaper version, not the BlueRay so I didn't get any extras. And oh, it's not like I liked the movie or anything but I have watched it 3 times in less than 18 hours.

Symbolism and Comparisons in Films
First started on the prior GS board, this was the first of what may be several suppositions about comparisons, symbolism, and contrasts between different scenes, characters, or elements in films, whether intentional by the filmmakers or coincidental. Let me begin by explaining where and how my thoug...
