Re: Last Movie Watched
Justice League. I knew I wanted to see this even despite the complaints and bad reviews so I went in expecting it to be a mess. Well, it had its faults and slow points and a few scenes I didn't care for, but nevertheless I enjoyed it a lot. That's right, I had a good time. I enjoyed all of the JL p...

Re: Last Movie Watched
Thor: Ragnork or however you spell it. Meh. I was very disappointed. Thor was pretty much my favorite Avenger and I enjoyed the first 2 Thor films, but this one felt very different. First I'll say that the first 5 minutes were downright fantastic. But then it dragged on and got too goofy for me. I ...

Re: Star Trek - From TOS to Discovery and Beyond
Sorry, but to me it isn't Star Trek. We are also shown a crew that can't work together. While I'm glad Roddenberry's stupid rule that there can't be conflicts among the main characters is gone, I want to see a group of people working together to solve problems and that humanity has progressed, not ...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS ALLOWED)
I dunno. I still have the feeling Snoke and Luke are in cahoots, in some fashion. I also note that Luke and Kylo sometimes dress alike in this trailer, and it all hearkens back to the awful Dark Empire comics.... My guess is that Kylo's destined to find what lies beyond the dark side, not return to...

Re: Star Trek - From TOS to Discovery and Beyond
Star Trek has always been about optimism for the future, of teamwork and exploration. And there's no reason this show can't get into those things as it proceeds. Again, I don't want to judge the entire show in the content of just a few episodes. I think its fair game to pursue darker, war-themed st...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS ALLOWED)
One reason I think Rey will go dark is that this essentially is the TESB of the sequel trilogy and where things will look bleak at the end. If she indeed turns, then perhaps Rey is saved in IX (possibly by Finn). We do know that she somehow ends up Snoke. It'll be interesting to see how it all turn...

Re: Star Trek - From TOS to Discovery and Beyond
"Lifeless", that's a good way to describe this dystopian series. It doesn't feel much at all like Star Trek. I'm open to something darker. I don't mind that. But it feels like they're barreling forward haphazardly and without much effort to allow the characters or story to breathe. The on...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (NO SPOILERS)
Is it just me or are other fans feeling the same way? And btw, I absolutely loved The Force Awakens. But until seeing the Falcon soar into view in that 2nd or 3rd teaser, they underwhelmed me as well. The teasers did, I mean. Though teasers usually are underwhelming or don't show much, right? I'm u...

Re: Star Trek - From TOS to Discovery and Beyond
Watched the first two episodes of Discovery last night. I enjoyed them. Probably not going to pay for the terrible CBS All Access service for it but will look for other ways to purchase it in the future. I signed up for the 1 week free trial. Saw the first episode last night and will check out the ...

Re: Last Television Show Watched
Watched the first episode of Star Trek Discovery last night. Quite lackluster. I'll check out the second episode tonight, but unless its significantly better, I'm not gonna feel too bad about not continuing with CBS All Access.

I only recently bought the Saga on Blu-ray, so I haven't watched it yet. But the version shown on TV is likely the BD version, right?Master Magnus wrote: ↑September 7th, 2017, 1:45 pm There's one good change, Pernilla August recorded a few new lines for Anakin's nightmare scene, but sadly I find the movie unwatchable on Blu-Ray.

Re: Star Wars Episode II Attack of the Clones
Seriously, I really like Attack of the Clones . When I first saw it in theater in 2002, I was pleasantly surprised as I really didn't like TPM. Much has been said about the dialogue, but the dialogue isn't an important element of Star Wars: It's a very visual franchise and could work as silent movi...

Season 7 finale of Game of Thrones. Leaves them in a good position for the final 6 episodes. Glad they cleaned up some dangling things, and set up resolutions for others. The chess board feels appropriately manned for the last run.

Re: THE REPUBLIC vs. THE SEPARATISTS...a "what-if" question
Keep in mind folks, despite the use of the Force, the Jedi in the Geonosis arena were outnumbered and ended up surrounded in a losing fight before Yoda showed up with reinforcements. Sure, and if its the Jedi making up the army for the Republic, they'd lose. But, again, if its a Clone Army for the ...

Re: Last Television Show Watched
Yes, especially during the writer's strike during the second season (when they had to resort to polishing up old Star Trek: Phase II scripts), but they're sprinkled throughout... I didn't realize a writer's strike had affected things. Though, overall, I still remember the second season being better...

I watched a few episodes of the remastered Star Trek: The Next Generation on Netflix. I had forgotten how many bad episodes there were... Especially early on. Last for me was the new episode of Game of Thrones last night. Glad I got caught up before this season started. Solid stuff so far. A lot of...

Re: "EVERYTHING THAT HAS TRANSPIRED HAS DONE SO ACCORDING TO MY DESIGN" ...even the Rebel Alliance?
Certainly, based solely on his actions and words, would one have any reason to doubt that all transpired according to his design...and I'd lump the rebellion in with that. I mean, it's a bit of a stretch to come to that conclusion after seeing just the OT, but his puppeteering throughout the entire...

Re: Star Trek - From TOS to Discovery and Beyond
Yes, but the last episode isn't fully canon (well, at least not in the Kelvinverse). Otherwise, I agree. I don't think Enterprise was that bad. And I do like the first version of the theme song (the second is awful). I'm considering picking up the Enterprise box set at some point when its at a dece...

As for "trashing" almost every film or program: I'm a demanding viewer, it's true. I hold to the adage that 90% of everything is crap. (And I suspect the percentage is nearer 95, maybe 99.) I'm also capable of enjoying some things I find fault with, faults and all. And not every program o...

Re: Last Movie Watched
Revenge sure had a lot more action, fight scenes, and intensity, but Empire will probably always come first to me due to the nostalgia and the lifelong love ever since seeing it in 1980. I may have to admit that I now enjoy Revenge more due to the story content, but Empire stays due to the nostalgi...

The third film has some good moments. Connery and Ford work well off each other. That makes it tolerable. I'll add Alison Doody to the list of positives. You're better off barely remembering the second film. An awful film. Spielbergian excess at its worst. Maybe I'll stick to just rewatchin...

Yay. Considering the only good one was the first one, and the only other tolerable one was the third one (saved, barely, by Sean Connery as Henry Sr.), and the second and fourth ones stank on ice, I'm not thinking the chances of #5 being very good are...very good. 3 has been my favorite for a while...

Re: Symbolism and Comparisons in Films
My thought about that is that as we've seen, Mike has come a long way since the events of the 2nd movie, and so has Neri. If not an oversight by the filmmakers as you've implied here, then perhaps it was intentional as if to show that Neri has grown to wanting peace and legal earnings as Michael ha...
