Re: Last Movie Watched
Sunday night I popped Quatermas and the Pit in the disc player. I've seen it in whole or in part a number of times, but not recently. This was the first time I'd had the chance to goggle the film from the Scream Factory release. Alas, I nodded off. But, what parts of it I saw were as good as I remem...

Re: Rank the Star Wars Movies
Rank the Star Wars movies? Why not? 1. The Empire Strikes Back. 2. A New Hope (A.K.A. Star Wars to those of us who were around prior to the name-change). 3. Revenge of the Sith. 4. The Phantom Menace - Return of the Jedi (Tie). 5. Attack of the Clones. 6. The Force Awakens (A.K.A. The Farce Awakens...

Still waiting until I can be relatively sure there are no Killer Corona Cooties on my copy of The Rise of Skywalker before I try that one one. LT, I know you've have to watch it, but... I'd have a guilty conscience if I encouraged you to watch TROS. To make sure you don't get cooties, I'd say burn ...

Agatha Christie's Poirot, again. Again, the episode, "The Chocolate Box." And, once more, the little grey cells, they screwed me over and went to sleep.
I think I watched Southpark after I woke up.

Re: Star Wars Episode IX (SPOILERS ALLOWED)
My copy of The Rise of Skywalker is out for delivery today, 1 April--I kid you not. In a way, I'm eager to see it. I haven't seen the film yet. In another way, I'm eager to see it, just so I can be done with this particular trilogy. I'm thinking it arriving in the middle of a deadly pandemic might m...

The Walking Dead , 10.14, "Look at the Flowers." Er, right. The flowers would probably have been a bit more interesting. Better than last week's catastrophic farewell to Michone episode, which I suspect with its longer running time and elaborate, and wasted, effects, helped to put complet...

The Last Vampyre, 1993, from the Granada series, The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes. A very bad attempt to turn "The Sussex Vampire," itself rather a modest entry in the Holmes Canon, into a feature length film. Not. Good.

Yeah, I've leaned more towards "modern" movies, newer stuff. Well, don't put investigating the older stuff off too long. Time is always in short supply, and there are killer bugs out there--and I am *not* talking about the mutant insects from Them! (Warner Bros., 1954, B&W, 94 minutes...

The Robots of Dawn , by Isaac Asimov. 1983. The third of Asimov's Robot Novels, the last, if memory serves, of those with both Lije Baley and R(obot). Daneel Olivaw. I had fond memories of it before I reread it. Wow. I'm not sure why. It is a bland, plodding novel, now very dated. Its weird determi...

At some point, I've gotta dive more into these older movies. It can really pay off. And, as I recall, you've yet to see some top notch, even classics, of the '30s - '40s era, and even some of the cool SF films from the '50s. I've fairly recently watched or rewatched and can recommend The Thing from...

Interesting... I'll need to digest it a bit more. Okay, seven months....more or less... ;) I know it was weird, but I didn't think it was quite that weird. Looking back on it I might make a change or two for clarity's sake, but...I'm still pretty satisfied with it, given what I had invested in it. ...

Won't spoil but they aren't Republic. That seems an easy inference from the X-Wing, and the direction it's pointing. I waited to see The Last Moof-Milker until it arrived on disc. I'm not sure about this one. I might go for a matinee after the crowds-- -- die down. Then again, might not.

Re: "The Mandalorian" Live-Action Series (2019)
I haven't seen much of The Mandalorian. Ads, brief clips, some concept art circulating on the web. And who could escape the revoltingly cute Yodaling? And I keep thinking one thing: Lone Wolf and Cub But I don't think I see any Japanese people. Is this some of that "cultural appropriation"...

Re: Star Wars Episode IX (SPOILERS ALLOWED)
The final trailer. Didn't do anything to me. https://youtu.be/nlnrOr2STaE I wasn't particularly moved by it any which way, either. What looked like Star Destroyers--or a Star Destroyer--rising out of the water was a millisecond of interest, until I realized that, 1) this is a JJ Abrams flick, and 2...
