Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (SPOILERS ALLOWED)

Anyone know when the disc will be released for this critter? I need more coasters.

(You have inferred correctly if you have inferred I am unenthusiastic about this flick.)

Re: NON-FICTION: The Art of Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Has anyone of you gotten this book? I have. But I've scarcely cracked the covers because I've yet to see The Last Jedi . Waiting now for the disc, hoping to avoid major spoilers--well, anymore: I've seen a couple of things that I assume are spoilers, but which, in isolation, a) don't make a lot of ...

Re: Welcome Senators

I've been away for a while, but now I'm back.

Where have I been; what have I been doing?

The usual places.

And doing? The most significant thing is more of a not doing: I still haven't seen The Last Jedi. I'm waiting for the disc at this point, and still trying to avoid spoilers as best I can.

Re: What's the Last Comic You Read?

I read the first TPB of the latest Marvel Darth Vader series, after Amazon finally coughed up my pre-order copy a week or so ago. What was the title, of the arc, at least? "Imperial Machine"? It was...so-so. I found the idea that a red-bladed Sith lightsaber was the product of making a regular saber...

Re: Last Television Show Watched

The Last (recent) program I watched was last Friday's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. , which has surprised me this season by not stinking--in contradistinction to "Season 11" of The X-Files , which has been little more than the tedium of raspy-voiced Gillian Anderson and stubbly Duchovny going thro...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS ALLOWED)

Tons of fun to unpack here! Seriously? Or am I losing my sense of sarcasm? I'm stoked for Finn v. Phasma. I hope that fight is given time to play out. Why? What significance does either of them have? To me, it's like Sy Snootles vs. Salacious Crumb. I hope that little porg in the Falcon lives, and ...

JJ Abrams to direct Episode IX SIGH. http://variety.com/2017/film/news/j-j-abrams-star-wars-episode-ix-director-colin-trevorrow-1202548094/ Well, we knew it was going to be bad, didn't we? Now we know how bad, and how much to lower our expectations. Now, if you'll pardon me, I don't have a basement...

Re: Star Wars Episode IX (SPOILERS ALLOWED)

I'm waiting to find out the Porg's twist. Everyone thinks of Ewoks as cute but they are vicious. Ewoks had planned to cook and eat Han, Luke and Chewie. I like Ewoks. Porgs look cute and sound a little like turkeys mixed with penguins. Ewoks aren't vicious, they're evil[/i. Between them, those self...

Re: Star Wars Episode IX (SPOILERS ALLOWED)

Porgs are God's gift to Humanity. The only pure and positive light in an otherwise dark and horrifying world. Don't tell me. Let me guess. You're being held at Skywalker Ranch and they're forcing you to post that, right? Or your account has been hacked, right? RIght? The entire universe can't have ...

Re: Star Wars Episode IX (SPOILERS ALLOWED)

So we get another Ep 6 from JJ. Who do they put in the metal bikini? Rey or Finn? If it's anyone but Rey, and I don't get wind of it ahead of time, I'm bolting from the theater. Frankly, though Daisy Ridley's a pretty girl, I'm not sure she's right for the metal bikini. Horrible thought: Wit...

Re: What's the last book you read?

I reread Ashenden by W. Somerset Maugham. Hundred-year-old spy stories. I gather there were more, but Maugham was convinced not to publish/destroy them, the implication being that his intelligence service during World War I was not sufficiently fictionalized in them. Probably be pretty interesting r...

Re: Ren from Ran?

Could be, but I thought Disney decided to trash all of Lucas's ideas about the ST and go their own way. They can't completely scrap his ideas, since I would imagine, no matter whether they were worth anything or not, they were rooted in existing saga, which is going to push matters along a given pa...

That, or "Icks"?

The X-Files last night, Episode 3.17, if memory serves: "Pusher."

Before that, Doctor Who, 6.13, again if memory serves: "The Wedding of River Song."

Right now, in the other room, to which I must return, Tucker Carlson Tonight.

The X-Files, 2.1, "Little Green Men." This is more what I remember the series being.

Last night, it was Doctor Who, 4.7, "The Unicorn and the Wasp." Notable for the presence of Felicity Jones, and being one of the more tolerable Donna Noble episodes.

Re: Last Movie Watched

Determination, more than speed. The latter also felt true to what we'd seen from Vader before. If you look at the initial several moves of his, its all within a few steps. He sends their blaster bolts back at them, lifts the one guy up to the ceiling. Cuts down another. Then he slices up at the cei...
