Re: MOVIES: Indiana Jones

Man, Tesla, you were always an acquired taste back in the day on the old boards, but wow....you've evolved into full-out GET OFF MY LAWN mode these days. "Full-out Get Off My Lawn Mode"? No one has to get off my lawn. They know better than to get on it in the first place. ;) I haven't changed much ...

Re: Last Television Show Watched

The X-Files, 2.1, "Little Green Men." This is more what I remember the series being.

Last night, it was Doctor Who, 4.7, "The Unicorn and the Wasp." Notable for the presence of Felicity Jones, and being one of the more tolerable Donna Noble episodes.

Tonight's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D./i].

It's finally picking up a little this season, now that there's only one episode left.

Re: Last Movie Watched

Determination, more than speed. The latter also felt true to what we'd seen from Vader before. If you look at the initial several moves of his, its all within a few steps. He sends their blaster bolts back at them, lifts the one guy up to the ceiling. Cuts down another. Then he slices up at the cei...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII (SPOILERS ALLOWED)

I was just looking at the trailer again. I don't think anyone's mentioned the books in this thread. If so, and this has already been addressed, well: Never mind. If not, then... Might those books be the Journal of the Whills? Yes, that is likely (at least some other Jedi literature lost to time). I...

Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (SPOILERS ALLOWED)

I want to know how they are going to get R2 and C3PO into the film some how Easy. Yoda knew Chewbacca. Chewbacca helped get Yoda safely off--hell, how do you spell that, "Kashyyyk"? "Kerchoo"? (All those in favor of changing the name to "Wookinaar" raise your hands.) Seems likely he's part of the r...

Re: Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens

Same thing that happened about six years before Return of the Jedi , only not as much fun. Well, four years before Return of the Jedi , but I agree. Four? 1977 to 1983...six, correct? I think you were doing Internal Chronology Math, while I was doing Release Date Math. ;) I can't say that I was dis...

Ren from Ran?

I have to confess I haven't done much reading or viewing concerning the creation of TFA since the film opened, so maybe this has already been addressed somewhere, in which case excuse me repeating the topic. That said, has anyone else thought that the name "Ren" might be derived from the Japanese ra...

Re: Last Television Show Watched

There are some very weird references in it, some political, some not (last week, there was an ESB reference), but they make me wonder. Makes you wonder...? Makes me wonder if they haven't got a clue what to do next, so they're killing time with references and homages while they try to figure out wh...

Re: MOVIES: Indiana Jones

3 has been my favorite for a while, but it has been a loooooong time since I've seen the original. Also, hardly remember the second. I should probably rewatch the series at some point. The third film has some good moments. Connery and Ford work well off each other. That makes it tolerable. The film...

Re: MOVIES: Indiana Jones

Yay. Considering the only good one was the first one, and the only other tolerable one was the third one (saved, barely, by Sean Connery as Henry Sr.), and the second and fourth ones stank on ice, I'm not thinking the chances of #5 being very good are...very good.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Seriously? Pretty sure, yeah. I forget where I read it but it's supposed to be like a poncho as opposed to cape. Fascinating. I'm going to have to do a little digging on this. That thing just looked like a frillier version of the cape in all the other scenes, not very effective as a poncho.
