Re: Last Movie Watched

http://cdn.collider.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/logan-noir-black-and-white-slice-600x200.png I love this movie. Watched it in color with the commentary on, and then switched to Noir for the last quarter. I need to watch it in black/white the whole way through. Still not sure which version I like...

Re: MOVIES: Indiana Jones

As for "trashing" almost every film or program: I'm a demanding viewer, it's true. I hold to the adage that 90% of everything is crap. (And I suspect the percentage is nearer 95, maybe 99.) I'm also capable of enjoying some things I find fault with, faults and all. And not every program or film com...

Re: Last Movie Watched

Revenge sure had a lot more action, fight scenes, and intensity, but Empire will probably always come first to me due to the nostalgia and the lifelong love ever since seeing it in 1980. I may have to admit that I now enjoy Revenge more due to the story content, but Empire stays due to the nostalgi...

Re: Last Movie Watched

Wrote a reply to you last week and lost it, and didn't feel like recreating it until now. It's been a frightfully long time since I saw all the OT films start to finish. I need to get to work on that. Me too. I almost bought the complete collection recently when Amazon/BestBuy/Walmart had it on sale...

I had a PB&J sandwich, cottage cheese, and pretzels. And Gatorade to drink.

Re: MOVIES: Indiana Jones

The third film has some good moments. Connery and Ford work well off each other. That makes it tolerable. I'll add Alison Doody to the list of positives. You're better off barely remembering the second film. An awful film. Spielbergian excess at its worst. Maybe I'll stick to just rewatchin...

Re: MOVIES: Indiana Jones

Yay. Considering the only good one was the first one, and the only other tolerable one was the third one (saved, barely, by Sean Connery as Henry Sr.), and the second and fourth ones stank on ice, I'm not thinking the chances of #5 being very good are...very good. 3 has been my favorite for a while...

Re: Symbolism and Comparisons in Films

My thought about that is that as we've seen, Mike has come a long way since the events of the 2nd movie, and so has Neri. If not an oversight by the filmmakers as you've implied here, then perhaps it was intentional as if to show that Neri has grown to wanting peace and legal earnings as Michael ha...

Interesting. Might be my top 3 also, though I'd have Revenge at the top.

Re: Symbolism and Comparisons in Films

All right, so this is completely unrelated to your first post (I still haven't seen Jaws), but I wanted to get a few brief thoughts down, Godfather-related, and thought why not use this thread. The movies were on a few weekends ago, and I was watching here and there. When Mike's with his father at t...

Re: Last Movie Watched

Well, it was a more visually rewarding display in RO, and he had demonstrated the same techniques in the OT, but with nowhere near the same sense of speed and shall we call it, "determination"? Determination, more than speed. The latter also felt true to what we'd seen from Vader before. If you loo...

Re: Last Television Show Watched

I never really felt the program was boring until they arrived Alexandria. "Boring" was the wrong word on my part. Let's say tedious, perhaps. Segments have felt redundant, or like they've gone on for too long. There are some very weird references in it, some political, some not (last week, there wa...

Re: Last Television Show Watched

That said, I'm not having as much fun with it as I did in the earlier seasons, for reasons I won't go into in details about since you're not caught up. Suffice it to say that I think they're having having some trouble because of the constraints production places on the story. I think you're right. ...

Oh, boy...haven't read comics regularly in a while. The last, and this was sometime last year I think, was probably the first couple issues of DC's Injustice. Or maybe some digital Star Trek comics.

Re: What's the last book you read?

I hate to admit this (mostly because I'll catch shit for it), but I think I like the Hobbit films better than the book. No, you're absolutely right. It was the cool thing to just dump on the movies, but most either hadn't read the book, or didn't remember it. Even Del Toro first had the reaction th...

Isn't that kind of like saying you ate food. How about some specifics? :)

I last ate lunch...which was a fish sandwich from Wendy's (supposedly North Pacific cod or something fancy sounding) with fries and fruit punch.

The X-Files , Season One: "Young at Heart." I continue to be amazed that the program made such an impact at the time, until, of course, I recall the time, which I do just before nodding off and missing the payoff, as I did last night. I don't think I ever saw the first season. Maybe not even the se...

Re: Last Movie Watched

There is one thing that might creep into my mind while I'm watching ANH in the future, arising from having seen R1: the amazing inconsistency in Vader's abilities from the "earlier" film to the "later" film. I'm certainly glad they didn't stick to the piss-poor "fighting" we got from him in...

Re: Last Movie Watched

Saw Passengers two nights ago. It entertained, but doesn't seem like it'll stick with me much. I enjoyed the first Act a lot, in particular the humor in this advanced ship having technology seemingly no smarter than Amazon's Alexa. The android bartender was fun. Chris Pratt did well conveying the sh...

What's funny about that, Borg, is that in the old Godfather thread we both expressed disbelief that anybody would not have seen GF by that point.
I'll make sure to never express that sentiment again.

Raging Bull. Very good, but as with my viewing of Southpaw, I did not care for the main character so it was hard to root for him. Exactly the problem I had. Saw it years ago, and have had zero interest in revisiting it because I hated LaMatta so much. Star Wars: Rogue One. Wow, just fucking wow. Sa...

Sure, why not? Secondary doesn't mean non-existent. Just because the show isn't centered around his exploits doesn't preclude him not being a big part of the happenings. I never said anything about him being non-existent. In general, I'm puzzled about establishing a "lead character" in what has typ...
