Re: Star Trek - From TOS to Discovery and Beyond

And the last episode of the season was a rush job... There were a few episodes I liked, but overall the series is... uneven is a kind word for it. They should have set it at least 50 years after Voyager instead.

Re: Last Movie Watched

It (2017). We have an expression in Swedish (it's not that old and I understand it has started to spread to the U.S. as well): Fjortis . While it comes from the age of 14 (the number, 14, is fjorton in Swedish), it's a derogatory word for immature teens. I would describe It as a fjortis horror movi...

I don't like the look of the actor playing Han Solo.
Ah, yes: Sham Faux-lo.
Yes, and he looks too old.

Agreed Magnus, if there isn't one, I'd say that's a hint and a half that they are behind schedule for that May release date. How long have we been seeing trailers/ads for Black Panther? More than three months time... Oh and if it is just a typo on the Mibban thing, then I hope it is the Planet with...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS ALLOWED)

When I said Yoda's appearance, I meant that he was in the film. I did think he looked slightly off but that was never my big issue with him. I wonder if the mould had been affected by age for it to change the look of the puppet. Of course, I know that! My main point was to further what you said abo...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS ALLOWED)

Yoda's appearance was one of the things that felt out of place and written by someone who hadn't watched the OT. And it was "crazy" Yoda that he used as a test for Luke. Yoda did not act that way before or since. And the puppet looked awful and nothing like either in the OT or PT. People involved w...

Discovery was just meh before the season break, but I gotta say, this show is officially off the chain now. Been hearing a lot of people hate these new twists, but I'm all on board. Re: Last Television Show Watched

I've been watching Vikings on HBO. I was surprised that Ragnar Lodbrok is the main character, although much liberty has been taken with the old stories. In the stories, Ragnar was the son of a Swedish king, Sigurd Ring, and not a peasant. The stories were also set many decades earlier than the show....

Ok, so they have a couple more months than I thought. But you're probably right about the push back if they re-shoot. I did think it was weird that they had another one coming so soon. Pretty sure all the new movies have come out in December.

So, the second half of the first season of Discovery has started and "Despite Yourself" (directed by Jonathan Frakes) was a darn good episode! I should say that quite possibly the best episode yet! I couldn't agree more with the posts about the poor quality of the new books. I hated the Aftermath books. I thought Tarkin was quite good. Currently reading Phasma and I'm struggling to keep going. I don't know what it is with the present-tense, simplistic style but I do not like it. I also agree ...

I've quite frankly never seen Abrams concluding much of anything. He opens up his mystery box whose content can be interpreted any which way, but he never closes it. And I think you're quite right: As I wrote after first having watched the movie, I felt as if Johnson didn't like some of Abrams's id...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS ALLOWED)

In my opinion this was the weakest plot of the SW movies. While Johnson tried to echo The Empire Strikes Back with the Raddus in place of the Falcon , I think it failed completely and felt to me as a boring version of the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica pilot 33 (in which the plot made more sense ...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS ALLOWED)

I finally had a chance to see the film for a second time. I still prefer this film to TFA. Things I liked: 1. Porgs 2. Carrie's performance 3. Rey's character development 4. Rose 5. Chewie 6. The score 7. The amount of battle scenes 8. Kylo being duped by Luke's battle appearance. Oh, the Porgs... ...
